The City, in the Feminine is an artistic photography project exploring the relationship between women, gender and urban space. Eight photographers, together with the collectives Punt 6, Equal Saree and Fem Kolectiva, will create visual narratives to be displayed on street advertising panels across the city.
The City, in the Feminine is an artistic photography project that reflects on the relationship between women and the city from a gender perspective. It proposes a critical exploration of the link between gender — especially the feminine, while also questioning the extent to which “woman” and “feminine” are equivalent categories — and urban space, both from the standpoint of everyday experience and from that of symbolic construction.
The project will involve eight leading women photographers who, in collaboration with the collectives Col·lectiu Punt 6, Equal Saree and Fem Kolectiva, will investigate urban space in order to generate visual narratives and original creations. The resulting works will directly engage the public, as the photographs will be exhibited on advertising panels across the city, integrating the artistic gaze into public space and everyday life.
The project is curated by Maite Caramés, Laia Gabe and Meritxell Inaraja.
This exhibition includes a public programme.
