The exhibition seeks to recognise Cerdà’s central role among the great urban planners of the past 200 years. It will present 12 “model” cities, including Barcelona, analysing their influence on new urban projects and incorporating reflections by authors who have taken these cities as a reference.

As part of the Cerdà Year, the Government of Catalonia, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC), through the Centre Obert d’Arquitectura, present an exhibition featuring ten projects developed between 1859 and 1958 that, situated between radical utopia and urban design, transformed the way cities were conceived. Drawing on the legacy of Ildefons Cerdà and other visionary urban planners, the exhibition invites reflection on the transformative potential of these proposals in addressing the social, environmental, and territorial challenges faced by diverse regions around the world.
